Sattvik Pindi Chana Recipe

Step 1
To prepare this easy recipe, put a pressure cooker on medium flame and add chickpeas (soaked overnight) in it along with baking soda, amla (Indian goose berry) and salt as per your taste. Stir once and close the lid of the cooker. Cook the chickpeas for one whistle and then lower the flame and cook for another 5 minutes.

When the chickpeas are cooked, remove the pressure cooker from flame and let the steam release on it's own. Meanwhile, put a deep-bottomed non-stick pan on medium flame and dry roast the cumin seeds, pomegranate seeds and coriander seeds for about a minute and then switch off the burner.

Transfer the roasted ingredients to a blender and grind them into a fine powder. Meanwhile, heat oil in a non-stick pan and add ginger in it. Cook until the raw aroma of ginger goes away and then add the powdered spices in it along with garam masala, red chilli powder, and salt as per your taste.

Now, add sliced green chilli in the pan and cook for a minute. Meanwhile, strain the chickpeas in the bowl and add the remaining water into the pan containing roasted masala.

Now, stir to mix the contents well and bring it to a boil. When boiled, add the chickpeas to the pan and cook on low flame until tender.

Once cooked, transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with the chopped coriander and serve hot.
