Recipe :

  • Step 1 Boil the potatoes and finely chop them

To make this yummy dish, rinse the potatoes thoroughly and boil them in a pot full of water for around 15 minutes. Remove them from the heat and peel off the skin of each potato. Then, finely chop the potatoes.

  • Step 2 Prepare the fish mixture for the filling

Heat oil in a saucepan over a low heat. After the oil is hot enough, saute onions, garlic, and ginger. Saute till the onions tenderize and turn golden, then add turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, and ground cloves and black pepper. Stir for a few seconds and add fish to the spices mixture. Stir frequently and cook for around 3 minutes. Next, add potato and salt to the mixture and again cook for 2 minutes stirring continuously. Turn off the flame, once the mixture is cooked through.

  • Step 3 Knead a dough for the outer covering of the filling

Take a large bowl and add flour, butter and salt into it. Rub the mixture until it turns into crumbs. To these crumbs, add egg yolks and beat the mixture nicely. Add the required amount of coconut milk to make a soft and smooth dough out of the entire mixture. You can add a little amount of water to get that perfect consistency. Wrap the dough in a cling film and refrigerate for around half an hour.

  • Step 4 Form the fish patties by filling the mixture into the outer covering

Divide the dough into and roll it using a rolling pin on a floured surface to make 6 round thin pastry circles. You can use a pastry cutter to shape the pastry circles better. In one of the circles, fill the fish filling and secure it by folding the circle into half, making a half-moon shape. Gently press the edges to seal the filling and press the surface of the dough with a fork. Repeat the same with other circles as well.

  • Step 5 Deep fry the fish patties and serve with your favourite dip

Preheat 500 ml of refined oil in a deep-bottomed saucepan over a medium to low heat. Carefully drop batches of fish patties in the saucepan and deep fry them until nicely cooked through and golden brown from both the sides. Enjoy hot and fresh with your favourite dip.
