Chana Dal Uttapam Recipe
Uttapam is a part of South Indian cuisine and is mostly enjoyed with sambhar and coconut chutney.
Chana Dal Uttapam Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cup chana dal
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup refined oil
- 1 teaspoon powdered turmeric

Step 1
Wash the chana dal and soak in enough water for 4-5 hours. Make sure that you add fenugreek seeds to it while soaking. Once the dal is soaked well, transfer to a grinder and grind to a smooth paste.

Next, add salt, sugar, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, and soda to it. Mix all the ingredients well for the uttapam batter. Now, put a pan on medium gas and pour a little oil on it. Smear the oil well over the pan and spread the paste using a bowl in a circular motion.

Using a kitchen brush, apply a little oil around the edges of the uttapam and let it cook for a minute on low flame. Now, spread a little coriander over the uttapam. Let it cook for another few seconds and once done from both ends, serve with green chutney and enjoy!
