Recipe :

  • Step 1 Prepare a sticky dough

Put the yeast in warm water and set aside for 5 minutes until it turns foamy. Then add all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, butter, 2 tbsp warm water and mix for 4 to 5 minutes until a sticky dough is ready.

  • Step 2 Knead the dough for 3-4 minutes and then cut it in long pieces

For 3 to 4 minutes, knead and punch the dough on a floured surface until it turns soft and smooth. After that, roll it in a long but even log. Now cut into 16 pieces, each between 1 to 1 ½ inch long.

  • Step 3 Knead the long pieces and make breadsticks with them

Individually knead these pieces and make 7-inch long breadsticks. You can decide the length on your own. In a baking dish, spread a baking sheet and put the breadsticks 1 to 2 inch apart from each other.

  • Step 4 Put these bradsticks to rest for 30-45 minutes

Cover the dish with a cloth and put it in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes to rise. It should double up in bulk.

  • Step 5 Make the topping and brush the breadsticks, bake for 15 minutes

Make the topping in a bowl by mixing butter and kosher salt. Brush the breadsticks with the mixture. Preheat the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Meanwhile, mix garlic powder and oregano with the rest of the salt and keep aside. Bake the breadsticks for 15 minutes. After taking out the baked breadsticks, brush them with butter and top with salt mixture. Serve hot.

Tips :

  • You can use biscuit flour or even all-purpose flour to make breadsticks.

  • You can top the breadsticks with parmesan cheese before baking to bring a cheesy twist.
