Step 1 Cook tomatoes in the pressure cooker
Wash and slice tomatoes, and add them to a pressure cooker. Add onion, green chilli, ginger, and garlic along with a cinnamon stick, star anise, bay leaves, cloves, and whole black cardamom. Pour in water and mix to combine. Close the lid and seal the pressure cooker cook for 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 2 Blend the soup
Then, turn off the flame and let the pressure release naturally. Discard the whole spices before you blend the shorba. Blend it until smooth.

Step 3 Add tempering and serve hot
Then, heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds to it. When they start to splutter, turn off the flame and pour the tempering over the soup. Serve hot.
