  • Step 1

    Wash dal and rajma together, soak them overnight in 3 glasses of water in a large bowl.

  • Step 2

    Take the soaked dal with water in a pressure cooker, add turmeric powder and salt, and put it over the medium flame. After one whistle, reduce the flame and cook for minimum 45 minutes over the low flame.

  • Step 3

    Now heat oil in a pan and fry onions till golden brown, add ginger and garlic paste and stir for a minute.

  • Step 4

    Add red chili powder and 1/4th cup of water to the onions and fry till oil separates. Now add coriander powder, garam masala, meat masala, and salt.

  • Step 5

    Grind the tomatoes in a blender and add to the pan. Stir them for about 2-3 minutes. Now add cooked dal to the pan and give it a boil. Simmer for 4-5 minutes.

  • Step 6

    At last heat ghee in a pan and fry chopped garlic till it changes its color. Add asafoetida and a pinch of red chili powder before adding this to dal. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
