Andhra Pappu Charu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 50 gm boiled pigeon peas
- 2 teaspoon tamarind paste
- rasam powder as required
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- 5 curry leaves
- salt as required
- 1 pinch turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 3 red chilli
- water as required

Step 1
To prepare the masala, heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium flame. When oil is hot enough, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, red chilies and curry leaves in the pan. Cook till seeds start to crackle and then add boiled pigeon peas in the pan. Stir to mix the ingredients well.

Sprinkle salt and add enough water in the pan. Add turmeric powder and rasam powder in the mixture. Cook it over medium flame for 5 minutes. When it starts to boil, add tamarind paste in the pan, stirring constantly. Boil the mixture for a minute or two on medium flame and add more water, if required.

Reduce the flame, cover the pan with lid and simmer for 5 minutes. When you get the desired consistency, transfer to a serving bowl and serve it hot with steamed rice.
