They are so versatile as they can be baked in the oven, pan fried, boiled, steamed or even deep-fried. Step 1 Combine the ingredients
Add ground pork or chicken, chopped onion, boiled cabbage, tofu and noodles in a mixing bowl and combine.

Step 2 Prepare the soy-based dressing
In a small bowl, add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper and garlic. Mix to create a dressing.

Step 3 Mix the dressing with the filling
Add this dressing to the filling mixture prepared in step 1 and incorporate everything well.

Step 4 Add filling to make the dumplings
Take the dumpling wrapper and put 1 tsp filling at the centre. Wet your index finger and run it through half the perimeter of the wrapper. Use your other fingers to crimp and seal the edges. Ensure that the dumpling is properly sealed and the filling is not visible.

Step 5 Cook the Mandu
Pan fry- Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a pan and add the dumplings 3-4 at a time. They should not touch each other. Cook on medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes until the bottom is golden. Add ⅓ cup water and cover the lid. Reduce the heat to low and let it steam for 5 minutes. You can also simply cook until golden on both sides without adding water.

For deep frying, Fry the dumplings for 2-3 minutes on medium-high heat until golden brown in batches in canola oil.

If you want to steam the dumplings, it would take 10 minutes. Don’t forget to line the steamer with a cheesecloth or cabbage leaves to prevent the Mandu from sticking.
