Fish kosha is a delicious Bengali recipe prepared in a mixture of yogurt and basic spices. It is a simple and tasty dish that is mostly served with steamed rice. This recipe is prepared using rohu fish or katla fish.

  • Step 1 Marinate the fish

    Marinate the pieces of the fish in turmeric powder and salt for a few minutes. Then, fry it lightly in mustard oil and keep it aside.

  • Step 2 Saute onion and prepare gravy

    Heat oil in a pan, fry the chopped onion with bay leaf till the onion becomes golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry with the onion on low flame. Add yogurt and red chili powder to it. Add 2 cups of water to it with a half spoon of turmeric powder.

  • Step 3 Cook the fish and serve hot

    Add salt according to taste and cook on full flame. When the water starts boiling, add the fried fishes to it and cook it on full flame for 5 minutes. When the gravy becomes thick, turn off the flame. Serve hot with steamed rice.
