- Step 1 Peel and soak garlic cloves
Firstly, soak the garlic in water in a bowl and then peel the garlic cloves and keep aside. Then, chop the red chilies or cut them into halves. In a grinder jar, add the peeled garlic cloves, chopped red chillies, lemon juice along with a little water and grind to make a smooth paste.

Step 2 Cook the chutney and serve
Now, put a saucepan over medium flame and heat oil in it. Once the oil id hot enough, add the red chilly and garlic paste in it, and stir for a few seconds. Sprinkle salt as per taste and cook for a minute. Turn off the burner and transfer the chutney to a bowl. Serve with dosa or uttapam.
Tips :
- To accentuate the taste and mellow down the aroma of garlic you can add some tomatoes.
- You can also add ginger to make the chutney more amazing.
- Add in a dash of sugar to balance the spice quotient in the chutney.
