Step 1
To start preparing this recipe,wash the cabbage, carrot, and curry leaves under running water. Then, take a shredder and shred the carrot and cabbage in a bowl. Using a clean chopping board, chop up the green chilies and keep aside.

Now, take a saucepan over medium flame and heat coconut oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds to it and allow it to splutter. Then, add in the urad dal and the chana dal and saute them till they turn golden in colour.

Next, add in the asafoetida and curry leaves to the pan. Saute them, then add the shredded cabbage and season with salt. Saute for another 10 minutes. Add a little water along with turmeric and mix them well. Cook for 5-10 minutes.

When it's cooked, add in the shredded carrots and season with pepper and salt according to taste. Now, cook them till the carrots are done.
