Bohra Keema Ki Khichdi and Khurdi Recipe (NON-VEG RECIPE)

Qeema khichri is a traditional Bohra winter dish served with ‘khurdi’ (milky mutton soup with mint) and kachumber salad. The combination is absolutely soul warming with all simple ingredients. The yellow color of khichri is so tempting and appealing, I can have it for three or more consecutive days and my son loves it too. Qeema khichdi is a very day-to-day kind of meal. This khichdi goes really well with khurdi/milk soup. This dish is bursting with flavors and is most certainly a heartwarming and soul-satisfying meal.

  • Step 1 Wash minced meat and pat dry

          To make keema, wash the minced meat and drain the water.

  • Step 2 Saute onions with spices and then cook boiled eggs in it

          Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and fry the 2 chopped onions until they turn light brown in color. Add red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, salt, and water. Cook till the water completely dries up. Remove from flame and add chopped boiled eggs in it.

  • Step 3 Soak rice and dal together for 15 minutes

           Wash rice and dal together and soak for 15 minutes in water. Now, pour the content into a large vessel and boil it. Add salt and mix well.

  • Step 4 Fry the remaining onion and add over khichdi
    In another pan, fry 1 thinly sliced onion till it turns golden in color and add the spices. Toss well and add over the khichdi.

  • Step 5 Cook chicken with ginger- garlic paste

          Place a pot over medium flame and add the ginger-garlic paste to it. Now, add chicken and salt with water and let it cook.

  • Step 6 Prepare the Khurd

          Take the last onion and thinly slice it. Fry it with chilies in a pan over a low flame and add them to the chicken stock. Put milk, mint leaves, and flour in it. Keep stirring.

  • Step 7 Make several layers and oven cook the khichdi with keema for 10 minutes and serve hot with khadi

           Now, take a plate and put a layer of khichdi and keema. Make several layers like this and then put it in the oven for 10 minutes at low heat. Serve hot with khadi!
