South Indian food is indeed incomplete without the tempting peanut chutney. Be it dosa, vada, idli or uttapam, chutney not only pairs well with sambhar but also amps up the taste of the food by many notches.

Step 1
Take roasted peanut and remove their skin. This step is optional as you can use peanuts with skin as well.

Transfer the peanuts to a grinder, add garlic, tamarind pulp and grind. Then, add water as per requirement along with salt. Grind it again.

When chutney attains a proper consistency, transfer to a bowl. For tempering, heat oil in a kadhai, add curry leaves, mustard seeds and dry red chilly. Once mustard seeds start crackling, pour the tempering over the chutney.
