  • Step 1

    To prepare this snack, first, rinse and wash chana dal. Then, soak it in water for at least 5-6 hours. Likewise, do the same with urad dal. Also, wash and soak the poha in water for 10 minutes at the cooking time. Once you are done with soaking of dals and poha, first grind the chana dal with the help of mixer, transfer it in a bowl and keep aside. Then, mix urad dal and poha in the mixing jar, grind them both together and transfer to a separate bowl.

    Next, take a large sized bowl. Add ginger paste, asafoetida, turmeric powder, green chillies, salt, red chilli powder in it. Then, add the dals and poha in the bowl and mix well. After that, add 1 1/2 teaspoon of oil in the mixture and try to make a smooth batter from it. The batter should neither be too thin, nor be too thick. Once done, add fruit salt in the batter and mix well.

  • Step 3

    Now, heat some water in a steamer. Then, take its stand-container and grease it with some oil. Pour the prepared batter in the greased container neatly. Top the batter with some red chilli powder and black pepper. Now, place the batter filled stand-container in the steamer carefully and let it cook for at least 20 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Keep checking the batter occasionally by inserting a toothpick in it. Your locho has cooked well, if the toothpick comes out totally clean from it. Transfer the locho in a serving dish.

  • Step 5

    Lastly, drizzle it with some lemon juice,coriander chutney, sev, coriander leaves and serve immediately.
