If your friends are coming over on a short notice and you are not able to decide on the menu, try this delicious Oats Idli recipe which is prepared with oats, semolina, buttermilk, yoghurt, carrot and peas.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 pinches salt
  • 1 teaspoon green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 2 tablespoon mustard seeds
  • 2 1/2 cup semolina
  • 6 tablespoon peas
  • 1 handful coriander leaves
  • 1 1/2 cup yoghurt (curd)
  • 6 tablespoon carrot
  • 1/2 cup sunflower oil

For The Main Dish :

  • 420 ml buttermilk

Recipe :

  • Step 1

    Wash and chop all the vegetables, keep them aside. Dry roast the oats in a pan over medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove, cool and grind to a coarse or smooth powder. After the oats are roasted, transfer them to a bowl and keep them aside. Now, in the same pan, add semolina and dry roast until golden and remove from the burner. Once the semolina is cool, mix it with roasted oats.

  • Step 2

    Next, put a kadhai over medium flame and heat a little oil in it. Add the mustard seeds and let it temper for 30 seconds.

  • Step 3

    Add chopped vegetable carrot, green peas, green chilli paste and saute for a minute or two. Add this to the oats mixture.

  • Step 4

    Add salt, asafoetida, coriander leaves, cooking soda, curd and buttermilk. Mix well to an idli batter consistency. Cover and keep aside for a few minutes.

  • Step 5

    Pour into greased idli plates and steam cook until done. Remove and serve hot with chutney or sambhar.
