  • Step 1 Prepare the fish

    To begin preparing this delectable recipe, wash the fish thoroughly under running water. Then peal of the scale of the skin and retain the skin. According to the length of the fish, cut the fish into half. Massage salt on the pieces of the fish. Keep aside for 20 to 25 minutes.

  • Step 2 Saute onion with ginger and garlic

    Now, take a wide based frying pan and heat some coconut oil in it. Once the oil is heated add in chopped onions and saute the mixture. Now to this pan add the crushed garlic and grated ginger, saute for at least 30 to 40 seconds.

  • Step 3 Add spices with milk and warm water to prepare the gravy

    Now, switch the heat on low flame and to this mixture add in coconut milk, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Keep stirring occasionally and wait for the milk to boil. When the milk starts boiling, slowly add warm water to the mix.

  • Step 4 Add the fish pieces with tamarind. Cook and serve hot

    Finally add tamarind pulp with the fish pieces. Cover the pan with a lid and allow the fish to be cooked for five minutes on low heat. Once done flip the fish to the other side and let it cook (with the lid of the pan covered) for another 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
