Bhakri Recipe
If you are a fan of Indian breads, you will love this super quick and easy Bhakri recipe. Also known as Jowar roti, Jowar Bhakri, Gujarati Bhakri or Maharashtrian Bhakri, several versions of this bread are popular in India. This jowar bhakri is different from whole wheat bhakri. While this easy bhakri recipe is made with jowar flour, whole wheat bhakri is a biscuit dough style flatbread flavoured with ghee.

Step 1 Knead a stiff dough
To prepare this Maharashtrian recipe, make a stiff dough of flour with water. Knead it well.

Step 2 Make small dough balls
Take a small-sized dough, make a ball out of it and place it on a plastic sheet.

Step 3 Pat the dough to shape the Bhakri
Wet your hands with water and pat the dough gently into a thick, flat disk. This is your Bhakri. Make sure that the dough does not stick while patting.

Step 4 Roast the Bhakri
Heat a griddle and place the Bhakri on it. Sprinkle some sesame seeds and roast it well.

Step 5 Flip & cook the other side
When the bottom of the dough turns crispy brown, turn it over and cook the other side. When it is golden brown, serve after putting some ghee.
Tips :

You can skip the ghee if you want to keep it healthier.

You can sprinkle some sesame seeds and chopped coriander leaves over the Bhakri.

You can also make different versions of Bhakri with whole-wheat or Bajra flour.
