Bengali Kachori Recipe

A famous Bengali breakfast, Kachori is often savoured along with a tangy aloo dum sabzi. It is prepared using a dough made with wheat flour, spices and the most unique one- peas. Don't let the name confuse you, as this Bengali kachori is the same as poori.

  • Step 1

    Grind the peas in a blender to make a coarse paste.

  • Step 2

    In a bowl combine wheat flour, peas paste, ginger paste, garlic paste, carom seeds, black pepper powder, sugar, salt and 1 tsp oil for binding. Knead a dough and keep aside for 5 minutes.

  • Step 3

    From the dough take a small ball. Roll it into a poori. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the dough.

  • Step 4

    Heat oil in a kadhai. Fry the pooris one by one till they become light brown in colour from both the sides.

  • Step 5

    Serve hot with aloo sabzi for that typical Bengali breakfast.
