It is also called Muj Gaad in Kashmiri. It is loaded with the flavors of aromatic spices especially the Kashmiri red chili powder. The ingredients used to prepare this curry are fish fillets, Kashmiri red chili powder, saunf powder, cloves, tamarind paste, ginger powder, green chilies, and refined oil. The fish usually used to prepare this dish is trout. It is a perfect recipe for the chilly winter days.

  • Step 1

    To prepare this delicious fish curry, wash and dry the fish properly.

  • Step 2

    Then, heat oil in a pan over a high flame and fry the fish fillets till they turn golden brown from both the sides.

    Remove from the flame and drain excess oil using clean paper towels. Keep aside for a while.

  • Step 4

    In a separate pan, heat the oil in to saute the cloves, green chillies and black cardamoms in this pan. Add the red chilli powder, ginger powder, aniseed powder (saunf), garam masala powder, and salt as per your taste.

    Pour the water and let it cook for a few minutes. Add the fried fish and cook till gravy forms a thick consistency.

  • Step 6

    Add the tamarind extract. Stir well and cook for a few minutes. Once done, turn off the flame and transfer the curry to a serving bowl. Serve.
