Kalkandu Sadam Recipe
Made with rice, moong dal, dry fruits, milk and Kalkandu sugar, Kalkandu Sadam is a Puthandu special recipe. Also called Kalkandu Pongal and Sweet Pongal, this dessert recipe comes all the way from South India.

Step 1 Cook rice and dal
Wash the rice and dal properly. Add them to the pressure cooker, along with water and cook until done. Now take them out in a bowl and mash lightly.

Step 2 Heat milk
Heat milk in a pan. Let it come to a boil. Add jaggery and mix. Now add the rice and dal mixture and mix well. Let it cook for 10-12 minutes.

Step 3 Add cashews and raisins
Now heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add cashews and raisins to it. Roast for 2-3 minutes. Add them to the rice-milk mixture. You will notice the Kalkandu Sadam getting thicker.

Step 4 Serve hot
Cook for another 2 minutes and serve hot.
