Bellam Paramannam Recipe
Ugadi is here and so is the time to enjoy the festival with a number of traditional delicacies. One such sweet dish is Bellam Paramannam, also called Annam Payasam and Bellam Pongali. It is a typical South Indian dish made using basic kitchen ingredients.

Step 1 Soak dal and rice
Firstly soak the rice and dal in water for 20 minutes.

Step 2 Melt the jaggery
Now add powdered jaggery in a pan, add 1/2 cup water and let it melt. Once it melts and forms a smooth paste, turn off the heat.

Step 3 Boil milk in a pan
Add milk to a pan and let it come to a boil. Now drain the rice, dal and add it to the milk. Add 1/2 cup water and let it cook for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4 Roast the dry fruits
Heat the ghee in a small pan, add raisins, almonds and cashews. Fry them until golden.

Step 5 Mix everything together
Now add fried nuts, jaggery paste and cardamom powder to the milk mixture. Mix well and let it cook for another 10 minutes.

Step 6 Serve
