Hextris

Arcade Left and right arrows to spin Tap either side on mobile

Spin the hexagon so each falling block lands on its own colour. Arrow keys, or tap either side.

How to play Hextris

  1. 1 Blocks fall towards the hexagon in the middle from all four sides.
  2. 2 Use the left and right arrows — or tap either side of the screen — to spin the hexagon.
  3. 3 Land each block on a face where it touches its own colour.
  4. 4 Three or more of a colour touching clears them and scores. Clear quickly for a combo multiplier.
  5. 5 If any stack reaches the centre, it is over.

About Hextris

Hextris takes the falling-block idea and wraps it around a hexagon. Instead of moving the pieces you move the board, which sounds like a small change and completely rewires how you think about it.

The tension is that spinning to save one face exposes another. Good players do not chase every block — they let a face build deliberately, then clear it in one large combo while the timer multiplier is still running.

It is fast, it is short, and it is unusually hard to put down.

Frequently asked questions

How do I play Hextris on a phone?

Tap the left or right half of the screen to spin the hexagon that way. No keyboard needed.

What is the combo multiplier?

Clearing blocks in quick succession keeps a timer running, and each clear while it is active is worth more. Banking one large clear beats several small ones.

Is Hextris open source?

Yes — it is released under the GPL-3.0 licence. The credit and licence link are at the bottom of this page.
