How to play Falling Blocks
- 1 Press Start. A piece begins falling from the top of the well.
- 2 Use the left and right arrows to move it, and the up arrow to rotate.
- 3 The faint outline shows where the piece will land — use it to line up the fit.
- 4 Fill a complete row to clear it. Clearing several rows at once scores far more.
- 5 The pieces speed up every ten lines. It ends when a new piece cannot fit.
About Falling Blocks
Falling Blocks is the block-stacking puzzle everyone knows, rebuilt from scratch to run in your browser with nothing to install.
Two details make it fair rather than frustrating. Pieces are dealt from a shuffled bag of all seven shapes, so you can never go twenty turns without the long piece you need. And rotation nudges a piece away from a wall instead of refusing, so turning in a tight gap works the way you expect.
Scoring rewards patience: four rows cleared in one move is worth eight times a single row, so the strong play is to keep one column open and bank a big clear rather than chip away a line at a time.
