Wheat Flour Halwa a popular north Indian dessert recipe prepared mainly with wheat flour, ghee, and sugar. it is rich and contains an equal amount of sugar and ghee and hence it is typically prepared for festivals and occasions. the recipe has a strong resemblance to the Khara prasad or Kada prasad offered in Punjabi gurudwara langars but is quite different.

This atta ka halwa is smooth, soft, and moist in texture. You can add dry fruits of your choice like almonds, cashews, or raisins in the halwa. Another popular variation of this halwa is Karah Prashad which is served in gurudwaras. But in Karah Prashad preparation the same proportion (quantity) of flour, ghee, and sugar is used.

You can serve this atta halwa after meals as a sweet dessert. They can also be had with pooris. In fact, the halwa puri combo is quite popular in north India. You can also have Sooji ka halwa with pooris. This halwa is generally had hot or warm. So if you refrigerate the leftovers, then warm the atta halwa before serving.

ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup of Wheat Flour
  • 3tp Spoon Sugar
  • 3tp Spoon Ghee
  • 7 to 8 Pieces of Almonds
  • 7 to 8 Pieces of Cashew
  • 2 Pieces of cardamom powder 
  • 1/2 Cup of Water

સામગ્રી:

  • 1/2 કપ ઘઉંનો લોટ
  • 3 ચમચી ખાંડ
  • 3 ચમચી ઘી
  • 7 થી 8 નંગ બદામ
  • 7 થી 8 નંગ ટુકડાઓ કાજુ
  • 2 નંગ એલચી નો પાવડર
  • 1/2 કપ પાણીનો

Tips:

  • firstly, do not alter the ratio of ghee, wheat flour, sugar, and water (1:1:1:3) as it helps to give a nice texture.
  • also, roast the wheat flour on low to medium flame to prevent browning.
  • additionally, to get a nice texture use coarsely ground wheat flour, however fine atta also works great.
