A tangy and spicy chutney where watermelon is stir-fried with coconut, green chillies and tamarind grinded into a fine paste.
Watermelon Chutney Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup watermelon
- 2 large green chili
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 tablespoon refined oil
- 1 tablespoon grated coconut
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 pinches salt
For Tempering :
- 1 handful curry leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon urad dal

Step 1
To prepare this delicious dip recipe, heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over medium flame, and add the watermelons (white portion found between the fruit and skin), grated coconut, green chilies, garlic, and tamarind in it. Stir fry the ingredients for about 3 minutes. Once done, turn off the flame and allow the mixture to cool. Grind the mixture to a fine paste.

To prepare the tempering, heat the remaining oil in the same pan over moderate flame. Add the urad dal, mustard seeds and curry leaves to the pan and saute them for about 30 seconds. Pour this tempering over the Watermelon Chutney. Serve this dip as a side dish with fries or nachos.
