Ingredients:

  • 750 gm chicken
  • 100 gm sliced onion
  • 40 gm peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon onion seeds
  • 4 tablespoon cashew nut paste
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 4 green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cream

For Marination :

  • 250 gm yoghurt (curd)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon crushed coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • salt as required

Recipe :

  • Step 1

    Cut the chicken into bite sized pieces and wash thoroughly. Marinate chicken in curd, ginger-garlic paste, crushed coriander seeds and salt in a large bowl. Keep this bowl in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. Next, heat ghee in a deep-bottomed pan over medium flame and fry the onions till they turn pink in color and translucent.

  • Step 2

    Afterwards, add onion seeds, green chilies in the pan and sauté for 5 minutes. Once done, switch off the burner and let the onions cool down. Then, put the pan again on medium flame and add marinated chicken in it, keep stirring continuously so that the curd does not curdle. Keep frying till the curd gets absorbed. Add peppercorns and cook till fat leaves the gravy.

  • Step 3

    Finally, add cream and cashew nut paste to the chicken and cook on low flame for about 5-7 minutes. You might need to cover the chicken for a few minutes. Cook till the chicken is tender and soft. This creamy gravy tastes great with naan or pulao. Serve with salad and raita.
