Step 1
To prepare this unique dessert, first take yams and neatly wash them. Once done with washing, peel and cut them in small pieces. Now, take a medium sized vessel and pour enough water in it and let it boil. Now, transfer the small pieces of yam in vessel and let them boil until tender. Similarly, wash and cut sago in small pieces. Take a separate medium sized vessel and boil them until soft. Once, done with boiling, drain off all the water from both the vessels and keep yams and sago aside separably.

Now, take a blending jar and transfer the boiled pieces of yam in it. Blend it at maximum speed until you get a rich smooth paste. In case you want a rough texture, blend it coarsely.

Next, take a deep bottomed large sized pan and place it on medium flame. Add jaggery in it and keep stirring until it melts. The, add sago in it along with yam paste and mix well. Then, add coconut milk in it and let it boil. Once the milk reaches the boiling temperature, add crushed cardamom in it. Keep stirring occasionally for next 30 minutes. After the kheer has cooked well, transfer it in a serving bowl.

Lastly, take a deep small sized pan and pour ghee in it. Let it boil and then carefully add cashews and raisins in it. Fry them until crisp. Decorate your kheer by topping it with these rich dry-fruits and serve.
