Date and Walnut Cake Recipe
Give your loved ones a treat with this Date and Walnut Cake recipe, which is super delicious and can be prepared very easily at home. This cake recipe is prepared using all-purpose flour, dates, walnuts, brown sugar, eggs, nutmeg and cinnamon powders along with butter and baking powder.

Step 1 Line a loaf pan and preheat the oven
Prepare a loaf pan by greasing it with a little butter and lining it up with butter paper, keep this pan aside until required. Preheat the oven at 160 degree Celsius.

Step 2 Soak chopped dates and mix together dry ingredients
Place the chopped dates in a bowl and pour boiling water to cover them. Keep them aside too for 10-15 minutes. Sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg powder a couple of times in a large bowl and put it aside.

Step 3 Prepare the wet ingredients
In a large mixing bowl whisk together the butter and sugar until creamy. Add one egg at a time and beat well till incorporated. Add honey and mix well again.

Step 4 Mix in dry and wet ingredients along with walnuts and dates
Sift in the flour 1/3 at a time, mixing each part with a spatula till well incorporated. Add the walnuts and the dates (drained) and fold.

Step 5 Pour the batter in loaf pan and bake for 40-45 minutes
Pour the batter into the prepared tin/loaf and bake the cake for 40-45 minutes or until the skewer inserted comes out clean. Once done, serve with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

You can also replace all-purpose flour with wheat flour in this recipe for a healthier version of this cake.

Instead of butter, you can also use olive oil.
