Lobongo Lotika Recipe
Lobongo Lotika is a delicious sweet dish of Bengali cuisine and is prepared on several occasions. This is an easy-to-make dessert recipe that can be prepared in just 35-40 minutes.
Lobongo Lotika Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/2 cup refined oil
- 1 cup sugar syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon onion seeds
- jaggery as required
- clove as required
For Filling :
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 5 raisins
- 1 teaspoon powdered green cardamom
For Dough :
- 2 tablespoon refined oil

Step 1 Prepare the dough for Lobongo Lotika
To prepare this easy recipe, combine all-purpose flour, onion seeds, refined oil and a pinch of salt. Mix well and add water as required to knead a semi-soft dough.

Step 2 Make the stuffing
Put a kadhai over medium flame and add grated coconut to it. Stir it for a few minutes and then add jaggery a per your taste. Cook till the jaggery dissolves. Next, add cardamom powder and raisins. Stir well and cook till the mixture is dry. Once it is done, cool and keep aside.

Step 3 Make Lobongo Lotika
Now, squeeze a small part of the dough and shape it into a ball. Roll it like chapati and add the coconut stuffing in the centre of the chapati. Collect all the edges at the centre, press and lock it with one clove. Repeat the same procedure. Once it is done, transfer to a plate and keep aside.

Step 4 Deep fry the Lobongo Lotika
Put a kadhai over a high flame and heat oil in it. Once the oil is hot enough, carefully add the prepared lobongo lotika and deep fry on medium flame until light brown in colour. Transfer to a kitchen towel to drain all the extra oil.

Step 5 Soak Lobongo Lotika in sugar syrup
Once all the Lobongo Lotika is fried, add in the sweet syrup and let them soak for about 10-15 minutes. After this, transfer to a serving dish and serve when cool enough.
